While Heathrow Airport is one of the world’s most popular airports, Gatwick airport is equally as important; it’s one of Europe’s top-10 busiest airports and also one of the busiest only runways in the world. Gatwick airport has two terminals, South and North, which are linked by an inter-terminal shuttle that runs every few minutes. Gatwick is a base airport for a number of European airlines, including Virgin Atlantic and EasyJet, British Airways, though many of the major international airlines have routes from and to Gatwick, as well.

What to Do ?

As with most international airports, Gatwick airport has a wide selection of shops. These include Lacoste, Ray-Ban, Hugo Boss, and for the drink lover, World of Whiskies. If you’re traveling with family, or shopping for kids, there’s The Harry Potter Shop in the North Terminal. If you have a few hours to fly, Must visit the Gatwick Aviation Museum, which is located next to the airport. What to Drink? 

Many of the pubs are also your best option for getting a drink. This is Britain after all! Those bars include The Red Lion, The Flying Horse, The Nicholas Culpeper, and The Beehive. Otherwise (Jamie’s Union Jack) cafe is one of the best spots for a drink at Gatwick airport, featuring a menu full of wine, beer and cocktails. For the more non-alcoholic variety, there’s Shake-A-Hula (North) for coffee and milkshakes, and numerous other coffee shops, including Jaime’s Coffee (North) and Joe’s Coffee House (South). 

What to Eat?

Gatwick airport has several restaurants and hotels that frequent international tourists are probably familiar with, such as Pret a Manger, Starbucks and Caviar House & Prunier. Jamie Oliver is one of Britain’s most famous chefs, has numerous restaurants, including Jamie Oliver’s Diner (South), Jamie’s Bakery (North), Union Jacks (North) and Jamie’s Italian (North) .

Airport Lounges 

Gatwick has a number of airport lounges at both terminals. This includes Clubrooms and No1 Lounge, which for an entry fee includes food and other amenities and an array of drinks. Book in advance on the website to save on entry fees. Otherwise, several airlines, including Virgin Atlantic and British Airways and Emirates, have their own dedicated airline lounges for those with status.
